Purpose: Sets the height of the viewer of the scene.

Usage:

  • To Set Viewer Height: slide scrollbar until desired height value appears in display windows, then press Accept.
  • To Restore Previous Viewer Height: press Reset instead of Accept after sliding scrollbar. The scrollbar is set to the last Accept'ed value.
  • To Dismiss the Height Dialog: press Cancel. Also resets the scrollbar to the last Accept'ed value.

Notes: By setting the height value to your own height, the VR scenes are rendered more nearly as you would actually see them in real life. The value set should be your total height, not the height of your eyes. The eye height is automatically determined by applying a factor based on the Posture Menu setting.

Posture

         |-----|-----------|------------------------------------------|
         | | Height | |
               | Posture > _____________
               ------------| = = = = = |
                           | * Fly |
                           | o Stand |
                           | o Stoop |
                           | o Crawl |
                           | o Slither |
                           -------------
Purpose: Sets the navigational posture or attitude of the viewer of the scene.

Usage:

  • To Set "Fly" Attitude: click Fly. Enables unrestricted movement in all three section views. Eye height factor is set to 0.0 (eye at foot level).
  • To Set "Walk" Attitude: click Stand, Stoop, Crawl, or Slither. Restricts movement so that the viewer's feet are always on a deck). Attempting to move off a deck causes an error message to appear in the Message Window. The eye height factor is set to 0.944 for Stand, 0.7 for Stoop, 0.33 for Crawl, and 0.15 for Slither.

Notes: Although all the Posture menu items work, "Walk" Attitude is not yet fully implemented. Hence, selecting any of the Walk attitude options will cause the error message to be displayed when an attempt is made to move the avatar. This occurs because the navigational part of CM Surveyor is not aware of any decks), and so always thinks you are walking off of one. For the present, use Fly attitude only.
